Rodrigo was born in Chile and never left home until he left high school, spending his time reading books and dreaming about wildlife and lost worlds.
But, after a short trip to the south of his
country where he met outstanding people,
everything changed. Suddenly he realized that those worlds were all
around him and he felt that it was up to him to explore them. Many trips
followed that one, and pretty soon it was evident that he had to dedicate
his life to travelling and exploring this continent.
That key moment happened 25 years ago, but he still feels the happiness and curiosity of this realization. Now he is without doubt one of the best professional mountaineering guides in Chile, focused on technical climbing, with experience in Asia, Oceania, Alaska, Antarctica, Peru, Patagonia and Chile, in high-altitude ascents, rock and ice climbing or ski touring and big-walls.
