Rodrigo was born in Santiago, when Chile was still very far away from what it is today. He felt that his isolation was not only geographical but also mental, so he decided to start travelling. He visited many countries and saw different cultures and, when he thought his eyes were already wide open, he came back to his homeland.
Today, Rodrigo is one of the most experienced mountain guides of South America. He has been leading groups for many years, believing that perhaps his clients are being taken by the same impulse that made him travel one day. Either in the Patagonian ice cap or crossing the Atacama Desert on a 4WD, he loves his job, he enjoys the feeling of freedom he gets when he is doing it.
"We are only high altitude nannies, not rockstars", he says when he wants to express the way he thinks, showing us he is a very good guide, a modest one, with a highly developed practical sense, somebody who really becomes his client’s partner.
That is, without a doubt, the direct route to reach any summit!
